The Grand Tour
Dom has recently completed 10 years service in her job as a technical writer for a tech company and as a reward for this, she was given a 4 week paid sabbatical. Not one to miss out I engineered the time off my work too. That’s when we came up with the plan of taking time to travel to some bits of Europe that we can’t usually get to in our normal two week holidays. When I say we came up with a plan to go to Europe, with us it’s never that simple. Initially our plan was to walk the Cornish coast path being massive fans of both Cornwall and coastal walking. However, after some further thought we got worried that the weather could make it a miserable experience for both of us. So an alternative plan was hatched! Where are we going on our trip I hear you say? I think the answer is where aren’t we going! Us and Baroness Betrude will go through France, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany and finally Belgium for the beer!

We will be staying in our lovely campervan Baroness Betrude, staying mainly at campsites and checking out some interesting places such as Dubrovnik, Venice, Lake Bled and the Black Forest in Germany. Given our love of wine, you can expect to see appearances from some Italian whites such as Fiana, the lesser know Italian sparkling wine, Franciacorta and of course some German Riesling. As well as some great reds, such as Montepulciano d’Abruzzo from Italy, Plavac Mali from Croatia and most importantly of all, some Spatburgunders (German for Pinot Noir) from Austria and Germany.
We’ll also do lots of hiking, exploring and cycling on the little cuties (our bikes!). We look forward to sharing these adventures with you.
