Another long driving day but no messing about with the channel tunnel, so we set off about half 9 and got to our campsite at just after half 3, which was the earliest check in time! This was one Emma had booked online yesterday, so we knew we had a pitch… however, she’d booked it for the previous day 😂 Luckily the guys running the campsite were fine about it, so it was all good. The campsite was beautiful, very lush, very empty and surrounded by mountains.

This site was a complete contrast to the previous site, which was really big and busy — we’d only chosen it for it’s location in terms of the right distance for the day and near the lake.

After a bit of setup and downtime, we walked to the nearby lake through lush green alpine meadows and wandered back along the river to the campsite, stopping off to sit on a big rock and enjoy the views.

Overnight we had torrential rains and heard the odd rumble, but no proper thunderstorms unfortunately.
