Today we cycled into Zadar for an explore. It’s a lovely little town, not that big, and easy to walk around the whole place. There were a few tour groups about, so I suspect it may get very busy in the summer. There are a few ruins to look at, the city walls and a big old church, but probably the thing I liked best was the sea organ. I’d read about it before we came but it was much louder and more impressive than I’d expected. Essentially, it’s some steps down to the sea, which hides a series of pipes. As the waves hits the steps and moves through the pipes, it makes music.

We had planned to get lunch out and figured we’d find something like a pizza, but all the menus were very meaty/fishy and what we could eat wasn’t inspiring at all. So we went back to The Botanist for lunch and we both had their amusingly named Blue Footed Booby salad, and then I had the tiramisu that I’d missed out on previously. I can confirm it was indeed very good and I’m glad I had it.

We spent a lazy afternoon back at the van and I had another swim in the sea. I’m sure it was colder than the previous days, although a lot clearer. After our planning the day before and booking a few things over the coming days, we’d decided to stay another night so had to extend our stay again. This is unheard of for us!

And also unheard of, we went to the campsite restaurant for dinner! I had a vegan poke bowl and Emma had the veggie pizza without cheese. It was obviously an uncommon request and the waiter was a little stumped when Emma asked, and he started detailing what the pizza would still have to check it was right! It was very enjoyable however and the sunset was really beautiful, although it was quite chilly sat out.

There were warnings of a storm coming in overnight, so we tidied up our pitch and took down the awning in preparation before retiring to the van for some reading and tea drinking.
